Important things in a room – Part 1

IMPORTANT THINGS IN A ROOM PART 1

“She said to her husband, “I am sure this man who stops in from time to time is a holy man of God. Let’s build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp…” (2 Kings 4:9-10 NLT).

The woman in the previous verse built a small room for prophet Elisha and the room contained four things that every wise person needs. However, today we will only speak about two of these important things.

“Let’s build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp…” (2 Kings 4:9-10 NLT).

1. The bed.
This talks about rest. Most people need seven to eight hours of sleep daily so their bodies and minds are energized and functioning properly. If God tells you to take a day of rest it’s because physical rest is important for your health.

You can’t work without resting forever if you try, one day your body will erupt with sickness, heart attacks, and premature aging. You were not created to be a robot, even machines need maintenance.  With that said do your best to rest once a week.

2. The table.
This illustrates the idea of how a table can be used to feed your body but also your mind, which means you can use the table to study. Many adults have lost the desire to keep learning and they have allowed their brains to rust. They no longer grow, instead they have conformed to their mediocre condition.

Even though this table was not in the dining room, but in Elijah’s room, the table still illustrates the importance of meals and physical nourishment. Take care of what you have on your table because everything you eat either increases or reduces your life span, it gives you energy or it makes you feel tired and it gives you a retentive or useless brain. Reduce the foods on your table that contain products full of fat and sugar; eliminate alcohol, let go of sodas and energy drinks such as Red Bull and other similar fluids.

Remember there are habits that as your pastor I cannot do for you. I am going to do my part in praying for you and teaching you what is good and right, but you need to do your part and take care of your physical health.

Think about it:

What step can you take in order to improve your physical health?
How are you taking care of your sleep? Try to go to bed half an hour earlier and you will experience a difference.
